An automatic washing machine runs all year, and its faults are usually more mechanical and more simple than people expect. Over half the cases that reach us are a drain pump blocked with hair, coins or a hairpin — a thirty-minute fix.

What matters is diagnosing correctly. Plenty of faults get wrongly blamed on the electronic control board, the most expensive part in the machine, when the real cause is a cheap sensor or a corroded connector. We test from cheapest to most expensive, not the other way round.

Diagnosis

The fault, and what is usually behind it

Will not drain
Drain filter or pump blocked with hair or small objects, a failed pump, or a kinked drain hose.
Will not spin or turn
Snapped or slack belt, worn motor brushes, a failed tacho speed sensor, or a door lock not confirming closure.
Will not fill with water
Failed inlet valve, valve filter blocked with scale, low mains pressure, or a faulty pressure sensor.
Leaking underneath
Cracked door seal, a loose internal hose, a split tub, or too much detergent creating overflow foam.
Loud noise on spin
Worn tub bearings — most common on machines over seven years old. Or metal objects trapped between tub and drum.
Vibrates and moves
Uneven feet, transit bolts never removed after delivery, an unbalanced load, or worn shock absorbers.
Water does not heat
Failed or scaled heating element, a faulty thermistor, or a broken circuit on the control board.
Door will not open
Failed electric door lock, or water still in the drum keeping the lock engaged for safety.
Stops on an error code
The code identifies the failed subsystem. See the brand pages for the exact meaning on Samsung and LG.

Error codes

Your washer talks in codes — we read them

Modern washing machines display an error code that pinpoints the failed subsystem. The code is not the fault itself, but it shortens diagnosis considerably. Photograph the code and send it to us on WhatsApp — it lets us give a sharper estimate before the visit.

4E / 4C Samsung
Water inlet problem — valve, filter, or mains pressure.
5E / 5C Samsung
Drainage problem — pump, filter, or hose.
UE / UB Samsung
Unbalanced load, or worn shock absorbers.
OE LG
Failed to drain within the allowed time — pump or blockage.
IE LG
Water did not reach the required level — valve or pressure.
dE LG
Door not closed, or a failed door lock.

FAQ

Washing machine questions

Do you repair washing machines at home?
Yes, most faults are repaired in place. We only remove a machine in the rare cases that need a workshop, and only after agreeing it with you.
What is the call-out fee for a washing machine?
SAR 50, deducted from the repair cost if you approve the work.
My washing machine will not drain. What should I do?
Stop the programme, unplug it, put a towel down and open the drain filter hatch at the bottom right. Many cases are a simple blockage. If it persists, the pump itself has failed.
Is it worth repairing a 10-year-old washing machine?
It depends on the fault. A pump or belt is always worth it. Bearings or a control board on an old machine can approach half the cost of a new one — we give you our honest view after diagnosis.
Are the parts genuine?
We use genuine parts where available, or a known-quality approved alternative, and we tell you which before fitting. The warranty covers the part either way.
How long does the repair take?
Most common faults are finished within one to two hours on the same visit. Faults needing a part we do not carry may require a second visit within a day or two.
